Karelian Rolling Pin
The Karelian rolling pin is hand turned from solid timber using our 1960's cast iron lathe. It is completely symetrical with a small 'grip' detail at either end to indicate where to hold the utensil. It can be made to order from any hard, food safe timber. The pin in the picture is made from sycamore which is a very strong, dense hardwood, perfect for rolling pastry!
This product was designed and made through necessity. A traditional snack in Finland called a Karelian Pie is made through the rolling of pastry. Rolling pins come in many shapes and sizes. This specific shape is used to quickly roll the oval base used for this traditional dish.
